Privacy Policy

Palimpact provides free, confidential financial guidance to people in Palestine. Much of what you share with us is personal and sensitive, and we treat it that way. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and what rights you have over it.
Who we are
Palimpact is a pro bono financial guidance initiative founded by Malek Mufreh and Mohammad Asakra, based in Ramallah, Palestine.
What information we collect
We collect only what we need in order to help you.
- Contact details you give us — your name, phone number, email address, and preferred way of being contacted.
- Information about your situation — what you tell us during a session or in your first message, including details about your household, income, spending, debts, and obligations. You decide how much of this to share.
- Booking information — when you book a session through our scheduling tool, it records your name, email, and the time you selected.
- Technical information collected automatically by our website provider, such as your approximate location, browser type, and which pages you visited.
Why we collect it
- To understand your situation and give you relevant guidance.
- To arrange and follow up on sessions.
- To keep a record so that another Palimpact advisor could continue helping you if needed.
- To understand, in aggregate and without identifying anyone, what kinds of help people need so we can improve our service.
How we store and protect it
We store your information securely and limit access to the Palimpact advisors who need it in order to help you. We record only what is necessary. We keep information for as long as we are working with you and for six months afterwards, after which we delete it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only in these situations:
- With your consent. If it would help to speak with a bank, a legal aid service, a microfinance institution, or another organisation on your behalf, we will ask you to sign a consent form first, and we will share only what that form covers.
- With the services that run our website and bookings. Our website is hosted by Squarespace and our bookings are handled by Cal.com. If you contact us on WhatsApp, that conversation is carried by WhatsApp. Each of these providers handles data under its own privacy policy.
- Where the law requires it. If we are legally obliged to disclose information, we will comply, and we will tell you where we are permitted to do so.
Our commitment on confidentiality. Nothing you tell us in a session is shared outside Palimpact without your consent, except where the law requires it. We will never contact your creditors, your employer, or your family about your situation.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your information.
- Withdraw a consent you gave us earlier. This applies going forward and does not affect information already shared under that consent.
Cookies and website analytics
Our website uses cookies set by our hosting provider to make the site work and to give us basic, anonymous information about how it is used. You can block cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may then not work as intended.
Children
Our service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
